These are some photograhs taken in Slovakia, in September 1975, when George and Joseph Mathews visited the farm where their father was born.
Joseph visiting Macus cousins in Siba.
These pictures were taken inside one of the homes on the Macus Farm.  The family living on the Macus Farm is Andrew and his wife, Maria and their two daughters, Martha & Eva; John and his wife, Agnes, and their son, Joseph, and daughter, Margaret.

Siba, Slovakia
The original Macus Homestead was a one room, rough -hewn log house with a stone fireplace and a dirt floor.  It was torn down in 1909 and another log house was built.  In 1963 the log house was torn down and two modern stucco tile roofed homes were built.  These two homes are occupied by John and Andrew Macus.  The farm was 17 acres, now it is 10 acres.  The Macus Farm is on gradually rising land.  The only flat area is where the two houses are situated.  From the main highway, you must  cross a bridge over a stream to get to the Macus homes.
Siba is a small community of a few hundred people situated in a valley between two gently sloping hills.
